Nature and land use
A British - German dialogue on halting biodiversity loss and the need for policy reforms
Preserving and restoring Europe‘s natural resources is essential for the wellbeing of future generations. However, there is still much work to do if we are to halt the loss of biodiversity by 2020. Recent reports on the state of nature in the EU highlight the deterioration of rural ecosystems and loss of farmland species and the urgent need for reform of agriculture and land use policies.
The two largest nature conservation NGOs of Germany and the UK, NABU and RSPB, and the British Embassy Berlin would like to invite you for a discussion on how we can jointly work together to support such reforms, ensuring public money is spent on public goods and using the current debates on better regulation to the benefit of biodiversity and sustainable rural development.
Through the discussion, we will collect and discuss perspectives and ideas with Members of Parliament, high-level representatives of the German and UK government, business and civil society.
This is a joint event of NABU (Naturschutzbund Deutschland, BirdLife Partner in Germany), RSPB (The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, BirdLife Partner in the UK) and the British Embassy Berlin. The event is followed by a reception.
Please register below by 6 October 2015. Security rules require that those attending bring a photo ID to permit entry to the British Embassy.
The event will take place in English without translation.
