Honorary Work
The International Voluntary Specialist Group (BFA) is made up of five NABU Working Groups (BAGs) for Eurasia, Africa, International Species Conservation, the Caucasus and Migration Unlimited and offers an interesting and varied platform for voluntary members to be involved in NABU’s international focus regions.
A steering group, consisting of members from the NABU Executive Board and the Executive Management, develop and decide on strategies and concepts for NABU’s international work.
Staff Members’ Work
As well as receiving support from volunteers, our international projects are supported by staff members in the International Project Office in the NABU Headquarters in Berlin and also by our staff at the NABU Representative Offices based abroad. So far we have a Representative Office for the Caucasus in Adygea and a Representative Office for Central Asia in Kyrgyzstan. We also plan to set up a Representative Office for Africa.
All of our international projects are carried out in close cooperation with local nature conservation organisations, in particular with our partner organisations in the BirdLife International Network or those that are in the process of applying to be in the network. In addition we endeavour to work in cooperation with governmental agencies and public authorities or universities. Alongside our own projects, NABU also works on projects with other non-governmental organisations such as ones with experience in development cooperation or in Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) projects with commercial partners.
