All the events in Germany to do with nature
In our NABU Events Database you can search for events using different criteria. You can choose the type of event, such as a lecture, an excursion, a festival, conservation work, a conference, a seminar, a meeting, a trip or other sort of event. In addition to that, there is a date-search and also a location-search function. Of course, you can search using keywords. You can also enter dates and events into the database yourself, just fill out the form. After a quick check over your entry we then put your event details into the database.

NABU Travel Destinations
NABU Travel is calling on everyone who shares our enthusiasm for travel and for nature – all of our trips are designed to give you a richly rewarding experience of nature. Newcomers are just as welcome as seasoned and experienced travellers. ‘We have new destinations both in Germany and internationally,’ explained Rainer Stoll, Executive Director of NABU Travel. Our great new destinations include the Müritz Lake, the Elbe floodplains, the Lower Spreewald forest, our nature reserve at Grünhaus and our Arabuko-Sokoke forest project in Kenya.

NABU Protected Areas
NABU has had protected areas right from the very beginning when it was known as the Union for the Protection of Birds (Bund für Vogelschutz) in 1899. The first area to be designated as a reserve was a small island on the River Brenz. Nowadays, the number of nature reserves run by NABU and its partner, the Bavarian Society for the Protection of Birds (Landesbund für Vogelschutz in Bayern e. V.), can hardly be ignored – we have more than one hundred of some of the largest and most interesting protected areas.

NABU Nature Conservation Centres
Nature for all the family
The opportunity to really ‘experience’ nature is of utmost importance to us at NABU. Most of the centres listed here are run solely by NABU and some are run as a joint venture with other organisations. We have lots of different types of centres, from simple meeting places and visitor centres in nature reserves to centres with more than ten thousand visitors per year such as the Mill at Blumberg (Blumberger Mühle), Wallnau or the Environment Pyramid (Umweltpyramide) at Bremervörde.

Leisure and Sport
Sport is turning over a new leaf
There’s no doubt about it – the great divide between people who go to the countryside for leisure activities and people who want to protect it has got smaller; the situation is becoming much less polemic and polarized. The basic problem, however, is still the same – that in our highly populated country, the countryside is a precious limited resource but at the same time it’s exactly the places are most endangered that are most attractive for people to do sport.

Photography
Experience nature through the camera lens
Digital technology has revolutionised the world of film and photography. Taking photos and making films of nature and wildlife is getting more affordable and you don’t need to be a computer expert anymore to edit your work afterwards; digital cameras have made it possible to edit your pictures just on a normal everyday computer. Even people who just take a small interest in photo editing can get some dramatic results.

Webcams
Watch nature on the internet
NABU and our partner organisations have installed lots of webcams to give you an interesting insight into the private lives of storks, osprey or peregrine falcons. You have the unique opportunity to look inside the nest box of a family of tits at breeding time to see how they feed their young. It’s surely an opportunity all of us have wanted but haven’t had the chance till now!
